I also love the base design that is square, rather than round, as you can get a tight seal and easily twist the cup from the base when done. Very smart!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Orangemahinder from Best Blender for Smoothies!! Since we have all KitchenAid appliances in the house and all the reviews were solid for the K400, we bought the blender from CostCo. I love this unit, it looks great on the counter and it is solid. Quality of blending is amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by samgreenjuice from Good unit, warranty easy to deal with This blender is attractive, and has a low profile that fits under upper cabinets perfectly (unlike another big blender brand). It's easy to use, and the base is heavy and sturdy. However, after about 6 months of moderate use, the the jar started leaking at the base, and then eventually, the jar started wobbling in the base. I am not sure why this happened. Thankfully it was still under warranty, and when I contacted Kitchenaid and sent in a video of the malfunction, they shipped me a new one (through a painless process).

Rated 1 out of 5 by ryan peter from Poor Quality Parts I bought this blender last year, and the blender shaft from the sprocket to the blade is rusting out... not sure if the material is made to rust out like that?. Still, it keeps leaving rusty liquid everywhere and has begun to loosen and wiggle... any recommendations on this?
