Step 1: PREPARE THE PRODUCE

Before you start blending, prep the fruit and/or vegetables you plan to use. From the fruit, remove any tough skins or large seeds and from the vegetables, cut off the fibrous stems. Next, chop the produce into halves or quarters.

Step 2: ADD INGREDIENTS TO YOUR BLENDER AND THEN PULVERIZE

Pour the liquid(s), usually water or lemon juice, into your blender. Then, add the sugar and any softer ingredients. Lastly, add the hard fruits and vegetables. Secure the blender lid and turn the appliance on the low setting. Gradually increase the speed to high and blend for about one minute or until the produce has been pulverized

Step 3: STRAIN THE PULP (OPTIONAL)

If your juice has excess pulp or you’re simply not a fan of pulp, pour the juice into a bowl or pitcher through a cheesecloth, nut milk bag, or a fine mesh strainer. This will help you achieve a smooth consistency.

BLENDERS TYPES FOR MAKING JUICE

There are many types of blenders and each has its benefits. Immersion blenders and hand blenders work well for smaller jobs like making a small or single serving of juice whereas countertop blenders let you whip up large batches. If you’re using fibrous greens, which are usually tougher, a high-powered countertop blender is probably the best choice to achieve the desired consistency of juice.

JUICE VS. SMOOTHIES: WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

The difference between juices and smoothies comes down to texture. Smoothies are usually more fibrous as it contains the pulp of the fruit whereas juice is often strained, creating a thinner consistency without the excess pulp. Most people blend smoothies with ice or frozen ingredients, which turns them into a thick and frosty beverage.

Then, halve or quarter each orange. Next, add water to your blender jar, then the citrus and make sure the lid is secure. With all your ingredients ready to go, start your blender on low, gradually increasing the speed to high until you’ve achieved the consistency you want. Before serving, use a nut bag, cheesecloth, or fine mesh strainer to remove any excess pulp.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR STRAWBERRY BANANA JUICE IN A BLENDER

Strawberry and banana are a classic combo that makes refreshingly sweet blended juice. Start by peeling the apples and bananas and de-leafing the strawberries. Cut your apples into quarters but the bananas and strawberries can be added whole. Pour orange juice into your blender followed by the strawberries and bananas. Place the blender lid back on and start blending on the low setting. You should then slowly increase until the speed reaches the high setting or you’ve achieved a smooth consistency. If the juice needs to be thinned, you can add more orange juice.
