Rated 2 out of 5 by mohairlady from Chipped I have used this hook several times but the coating has chipped off the very bottom of it. I do not to use the raw metal underneath as it leaves grey streaks in the dough. Otherwise I absolutely love my mixer except for this. I notice that KitchenAid does make a stainless steel hook which I would want.

I really like this appliance but upon taking the dough hook off the machine today, I saw it was chipped, so clearly some coating is now in the bread dough I made. I’m very surprised (and disappointed) that this happened, given the price point of this machine. Not a happy customer.

Why doesn't Kitchen Aid Designers wake-up to this reality and do something about it, instead of flooding the market with a bad part that impacts the reputation and quality of an excellent mixer, or are they enjoying the sales of replacements! It seams their only function is to maintain an excellent design of a mixer executed in the past and sleep over it!

I had to throw away an entire batch of dough and can no longer use the dough hook without risking additional chips breaking off. This is a safety risk. Based on the reviews this happens often and should have been resolved.
