My last one I bought in 2018, cost $1600, and lasted for 7 years before it developed a leak. A little disappointing, but overall still a good product so I decided to buy the KDTF924. Really 3 reasons - 1. overall happy with KA products, 2. matches my other KA appliances, and 3. features (very quiet and time remaining floor display) Installation: The instructions are not perfectly clear, and in one place probably not right, but overall it's a well designed product from an installation perspective. Absolutely ingenious having the rear leg adjustable from a bolt at the front of the unit. The waterproof electrical box is also a nice touch. Securing the dishwasher instructions are not well thought out. How, after I've pushed the dishwasher in, confirmed things are plumb, put the side gap covers on, am I able to install the included plastic spacers? You have to undo all the prior steps to have room to secure the spacers on the side of the unit. Performance: Very quiet, and at least with the couple light loads we've done, works very well. Love the auto-door open feature after a wash. Also love the time display on the floor. So, why only 3 stars? It didn't even occur to me to go find this unit in a store to take a look at the racks. I actually did go to two stores, but this model was not in either. After owning 3 prior KA dishwasher, I figured they had perfected the design of the racks. My last model (KDTE254) had the best designed racks ever. This dishwasher is a substantial step back, and worse than all my prior models. Based on where the dish racks are located, and the spacing between them, and the contours of the outside edge of the tray, this dishwasher probably holds 20-30% fewer dishes items than my last model. If you have small loads, then not a problem, but it is a problem for us. I think some of it is that the dishwasher interior volume seems smaller? Maybe that's required to pack more insulation around the unit to make it quieter? Perhaps manufacturers should list the interior volume of their units as they do with refrigerators? Also, one pet peeve. It's 2024.... how can't companies make it easy to register their products? Why not a QR code that has the S/N embedded and I just have to scan it and fill in my contact info? Instead, the 'Easily Register with your Phone' feature asks me to text a picture to a number (7***3) that you claim works for US and Canada. It doesn't work from Canada. And worse, the picture I'm supposed to text doesn't have the data in it that is required. I went to the photoregister.com/help site, and the data I need isn't on the form provided. There is also a section on the form that says 'Other Easy ways to register', and has a web icon and a phone icon, but theres no URL and no phone number next to them. So now my only alternative is to physically mail a slip? I haven't mailed a letter in years - I have no stamps. Perhaps if someone from KitchenAid reads this, they can reach out to me with a number I can call?

This dishwasher is small in its overall dimensions, which fits my smaller than usual space, but its holding capacity is impressive. It’s very quiet during the wash. However the plastic shelving materials smell toxic and nauseating for about a month even with once to twice daily washing!
