Read on to learn about Evergreen, the 2024 Design Series Stand Mixer and the top interior design trends that influenced it.
MEET EVERGREEN, THE 2024 DESIGN SERIES STAND MIXER
In creating Evergreen, the Design Team was inspired by the concept of nature and how it can calm you via its fresh and revitalizing elements. The earthy deep forest green colour, with its lush matte finish, harmonizes with the glossy green knobs, matching trim band and the brass-plated debossed leaf hub cover. Evergreen brings all these elements together to bring the wonder of the wilderness indoors—inspiring makers to come alive.
The team identified a growing trend towards introducing natural elements from the outdoors into the home, and knew they wanted to create a mixer that embodied nature in many forms, so they introduced wood in a true walnut bowl. Wood is already a central component in the kitchen, from cabinetry, utensils, bowls and butcher blocks, and the rich brown tone of the bowl perfectly coordinates with the deep forest green body of the mixer.
In examining the interior trends of 2024, the design team drew inspiration from four in particular: biophilic design, colourful appliances, haptic materials, and the rise of brown-toned neutral colours.
1. Biophilic Design
Biophilic design, the art of bringing nature indoors, is the first trend the team tapped into for the design of Evergreen. The trend emphasizes the use of natural materials like bamboo, cork, straw and wood, providing natural textures and earthy colour aesthetics. The design style also emphasizes natural colours, like earthy greens and tranquil blues, to bring a sense of calm and balance to the space.
In the kitchen, biophilic design extends beyond natural materials for floors, cabinets and countertops to incorporating rounded or irregular shapes to the design, whether it’s cutting boards, light fixtures or other decor elements. Or, you can bring biophilic design into your kitchen more literally by installing an indoor herb garden, bringing the lush greenery of the outside, inside.
The Evergreen Design Series Stand Mixer, with its deep forest green colour, natural walnut wood bowl, iconic rounded shape, leaf motifs and brass-plated accents, leans into the principles of biophilic design to bring nature into your kitchen and inspire new possibilities.
2. Warm Neutrals
From “warm minimalism” to “‘90’s neutrals” and “latte decor”, gray is being replaced by earthier tones. To embrace this trend, look for neutrals with a warmer tone; as light as beige or as rich as caramels and chocolates. Complement with rust, golden-wheat or even coral colours.
Warmer, richer wood tones are coming back too; look to see walnut, cherry or mahogany in cabinetry, furniture and wooden accents like bowls. And this trend isn’t just in the kitchen, this warm palette is on the rise in upholstery, art, jewelry and decor.
3. Haptic Textiles & Materials
Another trend with staying power is including haptic materials in your space to soothe your sense of touch. This trend is all about tactile and texture diversity; try natural materials like linen, silk, wood and stone to provide stimulation that perfectly smooth surfaces can’t.
Hand-carved details, metal accents with hammered or brushed finishes on appliances can also add to the tactile sensory immersion of your kitchen, making creation in the kitchen that much more sensory. In addition to the true walnut bowl that comes with the Evergreen Design Series Stand Mixer, try switching out with textured ceramic bowls like the wavy Merengue or studded bowls.
4. Mood-Boosting colourful Appliances
Adding a splash of vibrant, saturated colours to energize and lift your spirits has been rising over the last few years as we seek to create spaces that spark happiness and exude positive energy. As a counterpoint to the neutral gray and white minimalism that has been pervasive for years, this trend is sometimes called “dopamine decor”, and lets whimsical patterns and saturated hues take the spotlight.
This colourful trend extends to appliances too, with pops of vibrant colour on all kinds of appliances emerging as a new interior design trend. From large appliances like refrigerators and ovens to small appliances like blenders, microwaves and stand mixers, people are choosing to express their personality with a pop of colour in their kitchen.
The Evergreen Stand Mixer is the newest addition to the colourful world of KitchenAid brand. From The colour of The Year collection to the more than 40 individual hues available, you can find a colour that speaks to you.
Whether biophilic design, bright, vibrant coloured appliances, warm neutrals or sensory haptics, 2024 is a year of exciting interior design trends we can’t get enough of—especially since they inspired the newest KitchenAid® Design Series mixer, Evergreen. Where will the next trends take the design of the stand mixer? Stay tuned to find out.
